Nature Reserve Schwansener See
The 215 ha FFH and Natura 2000 site lies between Damp, Schönhagen and Dörphof. The 110 ha, formerly brackish beach lake was formed after the Ice Age and is now an important habitat for reed beds, salt meadows, wetlands and pastures.
More than 120 breeding bird species and 15,000 resting birds inspire ornithologists. Visitors can enjoy views from the dyke with NABU information huts and up to four BIS panels along the Baltic Sea coastal cycling route.
No-entry zones for boats and motor vehicles ensure undisturbed nature. Perfect for relaxing walks, birdwatching and nature enjoyment.
Waterski Park Damp
Located right on the sea, the Waterski Park has been thrilling action seekers since 2007. The Rixen 5-mast full-size cable system with 9 carriers offers optimal conditions for beginners and advanced riders – including rooftop, A-frame, kicker, slider, rails and more.
The large central island ensures calm water and great atmosphere. Rental equipment (neoprene suit, helmet, board) is available on site, no previous experience required.
On-site gastronomy, fair opening times from April to October (Happy Hour Wednesdays!) and attractive rates – e.g., 1-hour tickets, day passes, and season passes.
The Schlei – Baltic Sea Fjord Full of Discoveries
The Schlei is a 42 km long inlet of the sea that gently stretches into the inland – often referred to as a "Baltic Fjord." It’s framed by lush green meadows, typical North German villages, and historic towns like Schleswig and Kappeln.
A paradise for cyclists and hikers: numerous cycling and hiking trails encircle the Schlei, including the Viking-Frisian route with info boards about regional history.
